Year 4 Term 1 Overview: A Journey Through Time and Creativity!
Hello, everyone! As we wrap up Term 1 of Year 4, it’s time to reflect on the exciting learning adventures our children have embarked on over the past few weeks. From exploring ancient invasions to diving into the world of art and mathematics, this term has been filled with discovery and growth!
History: Invasions Uncovered
In history class, our budding historians delved into the fascinating world of invasions, focusing specifically on the Anglo-Saxon and Viking invasions. The children researched the impact these cultures had on Britain and shared their findings in engaging ways. It was amazing to see their enthusiasm for uncovering the past and understanding how it shapes our present!
PE: Diving into Swimming and Athletics
Physical Education has been a blast this term! Kensington class have worked hard to develop their swimming skills, mastering techniques that will help them in the pool. Whereas, Regents class have improved their athletic abilities, participating in various sports that foster teamwork and personal achievement. Watching their confidence grow as they tackle new challenges has been truly rewarding.
English: Creative Writing and Research
In English, the children channelled their creativity by writing their own Norse myths. It was incredible to see their imaginations come to life on the page! Additionally, they crafted informative Viking fact files, showcasing their research skills and ability to convey information clearly. These activities not only enhanced their writing skills but also deepened their understanding of Viking culture.
Art: Exploring Colour Theory
Art class was all about colour! The children explored colour theory, learning how different hues can evoke emotions and create beautiful compositions. Their creativity flourished as they experimented with various techniques, resulting in some stunning artwork that truly reflects their individual styles.
Maths: Mastering Place Value
In maths, our young learners tackled the important concept of place value. They engaged in fun activities and practical exercises to grasp this foundational skill, laying the groundwork for more complex mathematical concepts in the future. It’s wonderful to see their problem-solving abilities grow!
RE: Understanding Hinduism in Britain Today
Finally, in Religious Education, the class explored what it means to be a Hindu in Britain today. They learned about traditions, beliefs, and practices, fostering a sense of respect and understanding for diverse cultures and faiths. This topic encouraged thoughtful discussions and opened their eyes to the rich tapestry of our society.
As we look back on this busy term, we are filled with pride for the hard work and enthusiasm our students have shown. We can’t wait to see what the next term has in store for them!
