Update: Year Three Term Three 2025
Year Three have had another very busy term! A new term comes with new topics… so let’s have a look at what they have been up to:
Term Three continued with the topic ‘Through the Ages. The children had previously learnt about the very earliest parts of human history, beginning with the Stone Age and then moving into the Bronze Age. This term, they learnt about the final era in prehistory, the Iron Age. The children have learnt about how the use of Iron rapidly changed the course of human history and led on to invention and developments that we still use today.
The children took part in a Celtic Warriors immersion day at the start of the topic, where they showed off their creativity with some brilliant war paint and tartan outfits. They created shields and began learning some of the key vocabulary and concepts that they would use in this topic.
In English this term, the children have learnt about descriptive writing and poetry. They used the warrior Queen Boudicca to create their own striking character descriptions. Full of adjectives and similes, these descriptions were used to inspire the crowds gathered to listen to Boudicca’s rousing speeches. The children also created poems based on prehistoric humans. They used beautiful descriptive phrases to paint a picture of life in Iron Age Britain in the reader’s mind.
The children visited Dover museum at the end of term to see the famous Bronze Age boat discovered just down the road. They took part in two engaging workshops, where the children got to handle real prehistoric objects from the collection and discover what they helped us to learn about life thousands of years ago.
Overall, it’s been another brilliant term for Year Three, full of learning, creativity, and memorable experiences. The children have worked incredibly hard and have enjoyed every moment. We are all looking forward to Term Four and the new topic ‘Rocks, Relics and Rumbles’.
