Term 3 News

EYFS Term Three 2025
The children in Palace Class have had another wonderful term, learning all about winter in our topic ‘Winter Wonderland.
The children have enjoyed taking part in lots of fun and exciting activities where they learnt about what life is like in the Arctic and Antarctica. They compared these countries to where we live and where able to talk about the differences they noticed. We read the stories: If You Were a Penguin, Little Polar Bear, The Gruffalo’s Child, Sneezy the Snowman as well as looking at non-fiction books about winter, which led to some lovely learning taking place.
The children took part in an experiment to test if ‘blubber’ helps keep polar bears warm. They used lard on one hand and placed both hands into cold water. The children were able to notice that the hand with the ‘blubber’ felt warmer than the one without.
They also explored how to melt ice. They used a hammer, their hands, cotton wool and a hairdryer. The children also discussed how ice is made and tested different areas in and outside of the classroom to see what would work.
The children enjoyed taking part in a nature walk to look for items on the Gruffalo Child’s list – They were able find all the items and enjoyed exploring a cold winter’s day!
Overall, Term 3 has been another incredible term. We are extremely proud of how much progress they have made!
